Pilates class for breast cancer survivors gets off to a flying start
Our pilates class for breast cancer sufferers got off to a flying start this morning with five ladies coming along and giving it a go. We had some achey joints (before class!), some definite “I don’t like gym” goers and all the usual side effects from various surgeries/treatments. Everybody noticed a similarity between all of us and the buzz at the end of the session was loud and unanimous to say the least!
We did a series of exercises that come not only from pilates, but also from yoga poses and some basic stretching. All the mats are provided plus any equipment we might use, the wonderful staff at The Julie Rose Stadium even gave us some bottled water. The simple stretches were easy to follow, everybody did them extremely well and there was nobody going the opposite way to anyone else. It was as if all the ladies had been doing pilates for years….
We’d love our numbers to grow and believe that as time goes on this is exactly what will happen, so share with your friends, tell your consultant when you next see them or click ‘like’ on Facebook. Don’t forget the class is free to all ladies who want to come and exercise is such an important part of recovery and maintenance for well being, not only at this particular time, but all the way through our lives.
See you in class!
